Eastview Community Church has been sharing the love of Jesus one loaf of banana bread at a time.

Greg Armstrong, community chaplain for the One88 ministry on Princess street and in partnership with Eastview Community Church makes the trek to Shamattawa Manitoba and delivers some loaf shaped love. Loaves of Love is the term of endearment used by many involved in this ministry. Armstrong explained that he didn't want to go to the isolated community trying to fix the people. He merely wanted to just be a reflection of the love that came to him through Christ.

Loaves of Love came to be years ago, through a liaison who introduced Armstrong with the community's Anglican leader named Maryanne. Armstrong was told that sheLoavesOfLove Shamattawa really loves banana loaves. A friendship with the north was started from there as Armstrong introduced himself presenting her with her favourite loaf.

It started to snowball from there as others began to ask for banana loaves.

"The loaves are just one component," Armstrong said. While he's there he puts on a breakfast club event for the residents. The food and financial donations are provided from those back home who want to help out with the message that they are cared about and not forgotten.

"Every one of those banana loaves represents someone who knows that they've been loved and touched by God and want to share that with others," Armstrong said.

Drop off locations for banana loaf donations are at the Eastview Community Church between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.and the One88 ministry located at 188 Princess street between 10 a.m.until 4 p.m. except for Wednesdays. Deadline is Sunday, January 27.
