Gianna Eusebio is the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba's 2019 Champion Child.

The odds were stacked against Eusebio when at 27 weeks old in the womb and weighing one pound, she needed to come out or die. That's according to a release given by The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

At 10 years old, Eusebio has fought all her life right from day one. In her first year of life her heart stopped, was blind, and her lungs filled with fluids. She was the size of a cell phone at birth.

"Today, I can see with glasses, I use an inhaler to open my lungs to breathe and my mom says I have fire running through my veins. I owe my life to the Children's Hospital and the people who support it. I know I am a miracle," she said.

For 2019, Eusebio will represent Manitoba and will be an ambassador for the 120,000 children who visit the Children's Hospital every year.

Champions from across North America will travel to Florida next week to meet each other. Eusebio will celebrate her achievements, and meet with international media to help showcase the hospital and research institute here in Manitoba.

Eusebio has set a goal to raise money to support the unit that saved her life, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Eusebio is the first Filipino Champion Child in the history of the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and proud of her culture.
