One person was taken to hospital after a fire in a West End building Monday evening.

At 6:18 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a three-storey multi-family building in the 400 block of Furby Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they encountered light smoke coming from the building. Residents had safely extinguished the fire prior to crew arrival. The situation was declared under control at 6:30 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to crew arrival. Paramedics transported one person to hospital in stable condition. No damage estimates are available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
