Another strong weather system is approaching Manitoba, expected to impact parts of the province on Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a large swatch of central and northern Manitoba ahead of the system's arrival.

The national forecaster says the system will bring snow to parts of central and northern Manitoba. Current indications are that somewhere between 10 and 25 cm of snow can be expected, especially in a line from The Pas to Island Lake.

South of the snow, a band of freezing rain is likely, causing slippery conditions.

Winnipeg and surrounding areas will see periods of light snow on Monday, with a risk of freezing drizzle in the afternoon.

Temperatures will rise above the freezing mark on Tuesday to +3, and rain showers are likely for the day. Temperatures will drop below freezing Tuesday evening and periods of snow are expected into Wednesday.
