A 20-year-old woman is in custody after a nursing station was set on fire in a community in northern Manitoba.

The blaze broke out shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Monday in Chemawawin Cree Nation, near Easterville, Manitoba.

When RCMP officers arrived at the scene, the nursing station was completely engulfed in flames. 

The building is considered a complete loss, and the fire's cause has been determined to be incendiary.

20-year-old Lavern Chartrand has been charged with arson and failure to comply with probation. She remains in custody.
