One Winnipeg man is charged with Manslaughter after being taken into custody in the early hours of Monday morning.

At 12:14 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a call in the 600 block of King Edward Street with a report of an injured male. 

The 43-year-old male had sustained life-threatening injuries and was unresponsive when officers arrived. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. One adult male was arrested in the area. 

The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation. 

Officers learned that both the victim and the suspect knew each other and got into a verbal dispute where the suspect physically assaulted the victim.

A 23-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Manslaughter and remains in custody.
