A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a report of a robbery on May 16, 2024. 

The Winnipeg Police Service was called to the 600 block of Berry Street of a hotel gaming room at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the report of a robbed person.

Through the investigation, officers learned that an adult male suspect engaged in conversation with the 59-year-old victim. The suspect produced a machete and robbed the victim of approximately $130. The suspect fled on foot before the police's arrival, and the victim was uninjured. 

The suspect returned to the gaming room on May 26 at approximately 6:30 p.m. where staff recognized him from the prior reported robbery. Officers were called, however, the suspect fled before they arrived. 

Police located the suspect in the 1800 block of Ellie Avenue at approximately 7:45 p.m. where he was arrested without incident. Officers found a machete on his person, which they then seized as evidence. 

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and charged a 23-year-old Winnipeg man with robbery, possession of a weapon, carry concealed weapon, and fail to comply with probation order.

He was detained in custody.
