The Winnipeg Police Service says three suspects in an end of August homicide are now in police custody.

Police were called to the 500 block of Furby St. on Aug. 26, 2023, at 12:30 a.m. for a report of a man who had been shot. Officers had provided emergency care to the victim by providing CPR before an ambulance arrived, however he later succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

Police say they now believe that the three suspects, who were not known to the victim, forced their way into a room at the multi-room residence. Once inside they confronted the victim and are alleged to have shot him.

A 25-year-old male was arrested on the same date of the incident and was charged with second degree murder, as well as weapons related offences, and for failure to apply with condition of a release order.

On Sept. 1, 2023, police say they arrested two more people. A 21-year-old female from Winnipeg was charged with second degree murder. A 19-year-old male from Winnipeg was charged with second degree murder and three counts for failure to apply with condition of a release order.

The WPS says they do not expect to make further arrests. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
