A fatal two-vehicle collision with seven injured occupants and one deceased passenger is currently under investigation.

At approximately 3:15 pm, on December 8, 2019, Arborg RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 at the intersection of Road 107 North, located approximately five kilometers south of Fraserwood, in the RM of Armstrong. 

A pickup truck, being driven by a 23-year-old male from the RM of St. Andrews, was heading westbound on Road 107 North when it entered the intersection and collided with a southbound minivan, being driven by a 66-year-old male from Winnipeg.

The 23-year-old male driver and his passenger suffered only minor injuries and were treated on scene by EMS. The minivan was carrying six occupants at the time of the collision and a 38-year-old male passenger, from Fisher River, was pronounced deceased at the scene after he was ejected from the vehicle. The remaining occupants were transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The 23-year-old driver of the pickup truck was arrested on scene and taken into police custody. He was later released with numerous court-imposed conditions and scheduled to appear in court at a later date on charges including Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death and five counts of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.

The investigation is ongoing.
