An 8-year-old girl recently made a donation to Siloam Mission with money she raised herself, all because she doesn't want homelessness.

Willow Lakusta was visiting Vancouver when she saw homeless people on the street, something she hadn't really seen in Winnipeg up to that point.

"It made her cry and every time we got change she wanted to give it to them," said Willow's mother, Donna Lakusta. "It was nice to see."

Willow came back to Winnipeg determined to make a difference. After her mother looked up easy crafts online, Willow started making magnets and baking cookies, then sold them at her parents work.

"I felt bad for the homeless people and I wanted to do something for them," Willow said.

After selling the magnets and cookies, she went to Siloam Mission yesterday to donate $173.

"I think it felt good for her to go to Siloam Mission and see where her money was going," Donna said. "They told her what they would be buying with it."

Donna started a Facebook page for her daughter, called Willows Wishes Winnipeg. Willow wants to continue making these magnets and raising more money to help people who are homeless. And why does she want others to help too?

"They need a home," Willow stated.
