Willfried Froese says over the years he has lost his birth certificate but was able to hold onto his most precious possession, a copy of the New Testament.

In 1948, in what was then-called West Prussia, Willfried Froese decided to accept Jesus while sitting on the lap of his father.

"It was not in church, it was in a house meeting...dad asked me 'do you want to give your heart to Jesus too?' And in the adjacent room, the one that was becoming my spiritual father was praying with Hannah, my favourite cousin, to give their hearts to Jesus," Froese says.

In 1996, after working as an accountant in Winnipeg for many years, Froese was tasked with tying up loose ends to the business he worked at as it was closing. The business had carpet to donate, and Froese decided to give it to Union Gospel Mission.
