Police in northern Manitoba say a young girl is physically okay after she was attacked while playing with friends outside a home.
The Manitoba RCMP says in a press release that officers were called to a residence on Kistigan Crescent, in Mosakahiken Cree Nation (Moose Lake), around 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 8.
A 9-year-old girl was with friends outside when she was assaulted by a male youth, who was in possession of what is believed to be a machete.
The RCMP says that the victim did not require medical attention, and the suspect fled the scene.
The following day RCMP officers located the suspect and he was arrested.
A 13-year-old male has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Fail to Comply. He was remanded into custody.
Moose Lake RCMP continues to investigate.
