After a couple months of quiet mornings, commuters can expect a busier drive in Winnipeg today.

A majority of schools are back in session today, and that means not only more cars on the road but school buses as well. With heavier volumes on the road traffic will be moving slower than we've been used to.

Drivers should be on the lookout for extra kids walking today, and parents should have one more talk with kids about pedestrian safety.

As well, don't forget to watch for school buses. In Manitoba, it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus which has its lights and signs activated from either direction unless separated by a median.

Adding to the extra vehicles on the road are over 20 new barricades and lane closures that are going up this week for road construction, sewer work, and other maintenance projects.
