Accident sends pedestrian to hospital in critical condition

The intersection of Sargent Avenue and Simcoe Street is closed while police investigate a serious collision Wednesday evening.

The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses tell CHVN a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while they were crossing the street at a marked crosswalk with lights activated.

One person was reportedly taken to hospital in critical condition. No details on the age or gender of the victim have been released.

The Winnipeg Police Service confirms that a pedestrian was taken to hospital but cannot release more information at this time.
