All of southern Manitoba is under a heat warning Monday morning and many areas are also under special air quality statements as smoke from forest fires returns.

In the City of Winnipeg, the high is expected to reach 37 degrees. Coupled with high humidity, it could feel more like 42 degrees.

Environment Canada says very similar temperatures and humidex levels will be felt throughout southern Manitoba for Monday.

It will be a very windy day across the province as well, with winds south at 40 km/h with gusts up to 60.

There is a risk of a thunderstorm late Monday afternoon and early in the evening.

While the capital city can expect hazy conditions from forest fires in the province, other areas further to the west are back under special air quality statements as thicker smoke blows in. As of 6 a.m. those areas include:
