Human remains are being examined after being found near Winnipeg River's shore.

On Friday afternoon at around 1:35 p.m., Powerview RCMP was called about human remains being found near the shore of Winnipeg River in Sagkeeng First Nation. Arriving at the scene, an anthropologist joined them and searched the area.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and anthropologist guided the removal of the remains, which are now being examined.

RCMP is investigating.
