A woman has been arrested after a Monday morning collision took out power to thousands of customers and closed a busy Winnipeg intersection.

The Winnipeg Police Service says a box truck was stolen from a restaurant shortly before it crashed at the intersection of Waverly and Grant around 4:30 a.m. The truck was left on its side on the northwest corner of the intersection.

One woman was arrested at the scene. Another person was injured and taken to hospital.

The crash took out a hydro pole and traffic light. Manitoba Hydro says around 1,200 customers were without power for a couple of hours.
