Parents of newborns visiting or working in the Manitoba Legislature can feel a little more comfortable bringing along their little ones, with the installation of new baby-changing stations.

Speaker Myrna Driedger says, after 98 years, there is now a baby-changing station in one men's and one women's washroom at the Legislative Building.

"I'm not sure why it's taken this long in order to do this, but I'm glad it's happening. It's important," said Driedger.

Driedger says the request for baby-changing stations was brought forward by Burrows MLA Liberal Cindy Lamoureux.

The baby-changing stations are in the downstairs washrooms, which Driedger says are the most commonly used by the public.
