Steinbach Bible College is planning to run a full slate of classes for the upcoming fall semester.

SBC President Dr. Rob Reimer says with current restrictions for indoor meetings increased to 50 people, SBC should have no problem running on-campus classes as their average class size is around 20 students.

or the fall." He notes they have been working with health and government officials to ensure proper protocols are in place when students return.

Some of the protocols being planned include regular sanitization, limited occupancy of various lounges, daily health assessments, and reserved rooms for those who are unable to self-isolate off campus should there be a need.

Reimer says this year SBC will be providing a hybrid learning model which allows students to attend in-person or online. He adds their dorms and dining hall will also be ready for students, though capacity will be reduced.

Financially, Reimer says SBC was in a good position entering summer as the college qualified for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy which prevented staff layoffs. In addition, he notes both of their fundraising golf tournaments that were set for June will now run in August and they already have a higher number of returning students than usual with new applications continually coming in.

With all this said, Reimer notes SBC was able to transition to a fully online format when COVID-19 first appeared in Manitoba and they are prepared for a full closure once again in fall if a second wave becomes a reality.
