Manitoba Hydro will be installing rider poles for the Bipole III project, starting tomorrow, west of the Highway 16 Junction west of Portage la Prairie over the Trans-Canada Highway.

Manitoba Hydro Media Relations Officer Bruce Owen explains some of the process.

"The contractor working on that section of Bipole III, will be putting out a number of poles in a configuration, which will look a little odd, but once they see why they're there, they'll understand," says Owen.

Weather permitting, Owen says they'll use a helicopter starting on Friday as part of the process, to string together power lines.

"There may be short disruptions in traffic, because if the helicopter is crossing the road, obviously it's very low to the ground, so traffic will be delayed as the helicopter makes its passes," Owen says.
