Country singer and The Voice coach Blake Shelton has released a new song, straight from God's Word.

"Bible Verses" is the latest release by Shelton, a faith-based song of hope, New Release Today reports.

"No matter where you are in your faith, there are times you feel like you just don't measure up," Shelton says about his new song in a press release. "'Bible Verses' is an honest take on that conflict, but without preaching too much, it's hopeful that everything will work out in the end."

The song is a vulnerable dispelling of lies and disbelief about God, talking about self-worth and self-judgement. It challenges the perspective that God exists to judge and condemn, and instead opens the Bible as a place of truth and grace for everyone who has sinned.

In the chorus, Shelton croons: "I can open up that good book / and heaven don't look / like it's out of reach / when it feels like those apostles / are giving me the gospel / and not the third degree."

Using themes from Romans -- that we all have fallen short of God's grace and God desires a relationship with every person -- Shelton communicates the open arms of God where Christians can seek shelter, contrary to the belief that all sinners are destined for fire and brimstone.

"I'm just tryin' to give myself a little grace / 'til those words and me get on the same page," later lyrics read.

The core message of Shelton's song encapsulates a feeling familiar to many believers: "I just want it to read / like Bible verses / and not the Bible versus me."

The song isn't Shelton's first foray into Christian music. On his album, Red River Blue, Shelton also recorded a cover of "God Gave Me You" by Dave Barnes.
