Winnipeg's Emergency Social Services team was dispatched to help residents find new accommodations after an apartment building caught fire Friday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m. on May 14, Winnipeg firefighters responded to reports of a fire in the two-storey building on Blake Street.

Crews found smoke coming from the building upon arrival and launched an offensive attack. The fire was declared under control at 5:22 p.m.

No injuries were reported and all occupants either self-evacuated or safely sheltered in place until the fire was put out.

Residents will be able to return to their accommodations once the building has been cleared for re-occupancy.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
