The Blue Bombers have the best record in the CFL after another victory at IG Field Thursday night, but it wasn't all good news.

The Bombers had a dominant 32-16 victory over the league's worst BC Lions, and the team seemed to be firing on all cylinders.

Quarterback Matt Nichols had completed 10 of 12 passes for 179 yards and threw a TD pass to Nic Demski as well as rushing for his own touchdown. He threw only one interception when Drew Wolitarsky was able to tip a pass.

But with just nine minutes left in the game, Nichols exited last night's game after he was sacked by defensive lineman Shawn Lemon. He left the field favouring his throwing arm. The Bombers had no update on his condition after the game.

The Bombers backup Chris Streveler finished the game and went 0 for 3 and threw one interception.

One for the record books

Bombers running back Andrew Harris became the CFL’s all-time leader for a Canadian player in yards from scrimmage, moving past Ben Cahoon into first place with 13,377 yards.

He also moved into 10th place on the CFL's all-time rushing list with 8,477 yards.

"I could never imagine myself being at this point in my career and at this point in my life to be doing things like this," Harris says.

"There’s just a lot of respect and thanks to a lot of different people. It’s an accumulation of a lot of hard work and just opportunity. I’m just going to enjoy it now and I’m happy we got the win and I can enjoy it with my teammates."

The Bombers have now won eight games in a row at IG Field dating back to the 2018 season. It's the longest home winning streak for the team since they won 10 in a row between the 1993 and 1994 seasons.

The Bombers will play the next two games on the road. They are in Edmonton on Friday, August 23, and then in Regina for the Labour Day Classic on September 1. The next home game is the Banjo Bowl on September 7.
