A care home in Manitoba with Christian roots is putting more protective measures in place as one of their healthcare workers has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and several residents have fallen ill.

Nine residents from Betel Home, located in Gimli, Man. are currently experiencing a respiratory illness and being tested for COVID-19.

The respiratory illness outbreak is being investigated by public health officials.

Additional infection prevention and control measures are being taken by the home. Those experiencing respiratory illness symptoms are being isolated in the care home.

Betel was started in 1915 by a group of Lutheran women in Winnipeg, according to the care home's website. It moved to Gimli later that year.
