Leland Klassen is typically known as a funny guy, but in his first ever lead acting role, he got to show off his acting chops as well.

Extraordinary tells the story of a super marathon runner and college professor, David Horton. Horton and his wife are having marriage troubles because he is not focused on their relationship.

"It's a drama, it's not even a comedy movie," Klassen said. "[You] might be in for a bit of a surprise, hopefully a pleasant one."

The movie is based on a true marriage journey and talks about the love needed in marriage, as well as pursuing that balance.

"Not only is it a great marriage movie, but it will speak about that balance and talk about identity," Klassen said. "The most important part of balancing your job and your marriage is your identity in Christ."

This is Klassen's first lead acting role and it gave him the chance to work with a famous Christian movie actor, Kirk Cameron. However, Klassen wasn't 100 percent sure why they chose him for the role.

"At first, I thought why do we want me to be the lead role," Klassen questioned. "So I started looking at the script and I realized that this was my story too."

As a comedian, Klassen says he has to travel a lot, and as he read the script, he found many things that he had heard in his own life, and arguments that rang true for his marriage.

"I really could relate to the script."

Extraordinary will be in Winnipeg on Friday, December 1 at the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church. Show starts at 7:15 p.m. and you can purchase tickets online or at the door.

Klassen encourages everyone to see it, whether they are married, single, or have grandkids.

"And you get to see me in a movie," Klassen laughed.

The movie will be released publicly on December 9.
