Plows are getting ready to hit city streets after a series of snowstorms in Winnipeg.

From the City of Winnipeg:

Extended Snow Route Parking Ban

An Extended Snow Route Parking Ban will be in effect on streets designated as Snow Routes starting tonight at 12 a.m. The Extended Snow Route Parking Ban extends the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban by two hours, prohibiting parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m.

Vehicles parked in violation of the Extended Snow Route Parking Ban may receive a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early), and may be towed to the towing company’s compound.

The Extended Snow Route Parking Ban will be in place until snow clearing is completed and the public will be notified when the ban is lifted. At such time, the Annual Snow Route Parking Ban will continue to be in effect from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Residential Parking Ban

Plowing of residential streets will begin Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 7 a.m. to improve the overall condition of residential streets.

Residents are urged to confirm their snow zone letter to determine when their residential street is scheduled for clearing and find an alternate place to park such as an off-street driveway or parking lot, or a nearby street that has already been cleared. This helps the plowing operation run smoothly and will prevent you from possibly being ticketed and towed.

Vehicles parked in violation of the Residential Parking Ban may receive a $200 ticket ($150 if paid early), and may be towed to a nearby street that is not scheduled to be plowed, or has already been cleared. If you believe your vehicle may have been towed due to the Residential Parking Ban, please contact 311 for assistance in locating it.

Residents are encouraged to check streets for snow route signs, and to find their applicable snow zone with the Address Lookup Tool, by using the Know Your Zone appinteractive snow route map, or by contacting 311 and make alternate parking arrangements if they park on the street.

Residents can view the progress of our snow clearing operations by consulting our Snow Clearing Status Map.

If a residential street was not cleared as scheduled, it will be cleared after plowing has been completed city-wide. Residents are advised to contact 311 following the completion of the residential plowing operation to report a missed street. Residents can also report the location using the quick and convenient online form, which provides us with all the information needed to process a service request.
