Today the city is sharing an announcement many Winnipeggers have been waiting for.

Thirty-three outdoor wading pools and eight outdoor pools will be back in commission soon.

While there are some restrictions for swimmers, the city is hoping residents will take advantage of its facilities.

Wading Pools

A long list of wading pools is being released, with an expected opening date of July 3. The pools will be open between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m, all week long. The 33 wading pools will be free to swim in, but the city is encouraging residents to pre-book two-hour swim blocks.

Outdoor Pools

Many of the city's outdoor pools will be opening to the public. The City hopes that by July 8, eight of its nine outdoor pools will reopen. Non-heated pools will be free to use, and heated pools will have a small fee attached to their usage.

The majority of the pools will be open all week long from 12 – 7 p.m. Pools will be closed for half an hour in between two-hour swim block sessions for cleaning.

The city is discouraging drop-ins due to limited capacity and asks residents to book their two-hour swim times. Those swimming will have limited use of changeroom and washroom facilities, but no lockers will be available to use.

Swimming lessons, pool rentals, and private services will not be available at this time. The city adds that select pools will be offering Aquafit.

More information regarding the reopening will be made available to the public, including swim block bookings, closer to July 3.

People are being reminded to maintain a two-meter distancing from people outside of their own households both in and outside the water.
