The City of Winnipeg is not sending water meter readers to homes this summer and is asking residents to submit their own.

The City of Winnipeg typically sends meter readers once a year and asks residents to submit readings four times a year if possible. This summer, the City is asking residents to do their own readings as they will not be sending workers to homes due to COVID-19 concerns.

"Submitting regular, accurate meter readings also allows customers to monitor the amount of water they use," the City says in a statement. "For the safety of our customers, water meter readers will not be visiting homes this summer."

Winnipeggers can expect to receive a card from the City in the mail, explaining how to do it. Residents can also visit their website or call 311 for assistance.

Residents are required to send in their readings.
