A United Way request is leading the way to a new program pairing Winnipeg's older residents with essential services.

The City of Winnipeg, United Way Winnipeg, and A & O: Support Services for Older Adults Inc are announcing a new partnership. It will provide support to the city's older residents regarding food hampers, social supports, personal care items and other needs.

Organizations that have volunteered to help include:

  • City of Winnipeg’s 311 team
  • members of CUPE Local 500,
  • A&O Support Services for Older Adults, 
  • Winnipeg Harvest,
  • Winnipeg Foundation
  • CAA
  • Skip the Dishes
  • and a range of other community organizations

The funding for this project comes in part from a $9 million donation to United Way from the Federal Government, $170,000 in funding for local seniors organizations, as well as funding from The Winnipeg Foundation.
