Get ready, Manitoba. The extreme cold warnings aren't going anywhere according to Environment Canada.

The national weathercaster has continued an extreme cold warning for all of southern Manitoba.

C-MOS accredited weathercaster Chris Sumner says, "December 26th to 28th, we're likely entering what may be the coldest stretch of temps in 2017. Overnight lows of -35 to -38, and wind chill values of -45 or lower. Dangerously cold, possibly record-breaking, so bundle up and prepare accordingly!"

Environment Canada says that daytime highs will be somewhere in the -20s. "With these unseasonably cold temperatures and a moderate west wind, extreme wind chills of minus 40 are occurring over most of southern Manitoba this morning. Some moderation of temperatures and wind chills will occur during the day on Boxing Day."

Again, it looks as though western Manitoba will get the worst of it. "The Westman area remains particularly cold and extreme wind chills near minus 40 will persist through the day on Boxing Day. Tuesday night and Wednesday morning looks to be even colder for Westman."

Environment Canada says that the below normal temperatures "will persist for the rest of the calendar year in southern Manitoba. There will likely be periods of extreme wind chills through rest of the week as well."
