Two lovebirds, 95 and 88, tied the knot in Manitoba recently with some help from video conferencing.

Roy McLaren (95) and Barb Linaker (88) had been dating for two years when they made the decision to get married last week.

However, with the current health situation, they turned to online video conferencing to share the day with their family members.

McLaren's granddaughter, Jaycee McLaren, explains the family was thrilled at the news but was understandably disappointed they wouldn't be able to attend the ceremony in person with the social distancing measures in place.

Jaycee says live-streaming the ceremony over a video conference app was the next best thing.

"It worked out really well," she says. "It was unique, we watched a 95-year-old and an 88-year-old get married on Zoom."

The wedding took place in Pilot Mound with a minister officiating and Jaycee's parents as witnesses. The rest of the family watched online and had the opportunity to give toasts, welcome to the family speeches and viewers were able to individually share greetings and blessings afterwards.

Ever since meeting Barb, Jaycee says Roy has had a new outlook on life, "so when they wanted to get married we weren't surprised... they just love each other so much, and my grandpa brags about her all the time."

"She's one amazing woman and we couldn't be happier for him."

Jaycee says the newlyweds are the definition of young-at-heart. "They love life to the fullest."
