The Transportation Safety Board says it has found a crack in one of the wings of a floatplane involved in a fatal crash in Manitoba.

The board says in a report released today that the "fatigue fracture" in the right-hand wing lift strut led to an in-flight breakup of the plane near Little Grand Rapids in 2019.

The de Havilland D-H-C-3 Otter aircraft, which was operated by Blue Water Aviation, crashed into Family Lake with the pilot and two passengers on board.

All three were killed and the aircraft was destroyed.
