Tragedy struck the late last night when a collision between a front-end loader and a cyclist resulted in the death of the adult male cyclist.

The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on December 15, 2022, in the area of Mission Street and Plinguet Street in Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Police Service says in a release that two off-duty Winnipeg Police Service members were nearby and immediately began to provide emergency medical care to the injured cyclist.

Two on-duty Winnipeg Transit employees also stopped to assist, re-routing traffic while the off-duty officers tended to the victim.

When on-duty members of the Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service arrived, the male cyclist was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the front-end loader remained at the scene of the collision. It is believed that the loader was clearing snow at the time of the incident.

The Traffic Division of the Winnipeg Police Service is currently investigating the matter, and anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-7085.
