It's been a slow commute into the downtown Tuesday morning after a serious collision early in the rush hour.

Emergency crews were called to Broadway and Smith St. just after 7 a.m. due to a collision.

Callers to the radio station said that a vehicle could be seen on its side on the median.

The eastbound lanes of Broadway were closed completely for most of the rush hour, compounding delays in the area due to only one lane open through construction.

Large delays spilled over onto northbound Donald St. as commuters tried to make their way past the scene as well. The northbound right-hand lane of Smith St. was also closed at Broadway. That resulted in delays for northbound lanes stretching past Confusion Corner.

As of 9 a.m. Broadway and Smith was open again to traffic. However, police remained on scene directing traffic due to downed traffic signals from the collision.
