A powerful weather event Monday evening brought torrential rains and gale-force winds to many parts of southern Manitoba. In some places, the winds were so strong residents believe they were actually hit by a tornado.
While Environment Canada has yet to confirm whether or not a tornado touched down, significant wind damage within the small community of Gardenton does make the hypothesis believable.
One local homeowner in the small village 85 km southeast of Winnipeg, Erica Preston, says the winds levelled several trees on her property, one of which flattened a shed.
