Dr. Rob Reimer has announced he will step down as President of Steinbach Bible College and return to pastoring.

Reimer says he will remain in the position until the end of the school year.

"This is my 15th year as president, it started back in 2007 and it has been just an amazing 15 years. I could not have asked for a better ministry experience than what I have had here, it is just fantastic. I love the people, I love my faculty staff, the board has been phenomenal, we have got four excellent conferences that have accepted me treated me as family and so I have such positive things to say about what has transpired over the last 15 years."

Reimer says his time as SBC’s president has been incredibly meaningful. He notes he will miss the people the most.

"I am just so amazed at the number of people that have come through here and what they are doing now. Seeing students and how they are serving in churches and how they are being positive community members, getting involved, volunteering in their churches and a good number of them pastoring and in the mission field and that is so very rewarding to see."

Trevor Arsenault is the Board Chair for SBC. He says Dr. Rob Reimer will certainly be missed.

"I think Rob has brought a lot to SBC and as a board, we are very grateful for the time we have had with him and a lot of the things he has done. He has definitely kept our theology true to our roots and I think that is super important for us as a college."

Arsenault notes Reimer also led the college and high school through a formal separation, oversaw the construction of the new women’s dorm building, and provided great stability for the last 15 years.

Though Arsenault says the board would love to see Reimer continue on as president, he notes “we understand that he has brought the college to a place where it is a great transition for him to step down as he feels called to minister in another place. We wish him great blessings wherever he does go. He has definitely set the college up for this transition to happen.”

Arsenault says the board has put together a search team to find Rob Reimer's successor and as he will remain in the position until the end of April, there is plenty of time.

Meanwhile, Reimer says his future was announced this past weekend.

"I will be the executive pastor at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church here in town. I am very excited to stay in the community, we love Steinbach, we've got friends here and to be able to help a church in their process, I am really excited about it. A good number of their staff and interns are SBC alumni and that is the cherry on top of the cake for me."
