MANITOBA DRIVERS ARE REMINDED TO EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN PASSING 4-H HIGHWAY CLEANUP CREWS THIS WEEKEND
Media Release, May 26, 2023
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is pleased to see the annual 4-H Highway Cleanup Campaign continue this year. The department thanks all participants and volunteers for their efforts to keep Manitoba’s highways clean.
The provincewide road cleanup campaign will take place tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
Drivers are asked to use extra caution this weekend and to be aware of added foot traffic alongside highways and roads. All 4-H Highway Cleanup Campaign participants will be wearing high-visibility safety vests and areas being cleaned will be marked with appropriate safety signage.
In 2022, 13 clubs participated and cleaned nearly 100 kilometres of highways and roadsides.
Motorists are reminded to keep a safe distance between any traffic barriers, trucks, equipment and volunteers. Be sure to slow down in marked cleanup areas and remove any driving distractions.
In case of rain, the alternate date for the cleanup is June 3.
