4-H members will be helping clean highways around the province and drivers are being reminded to use caution when driving past.

"Young Manitobans will be hard at work this weekend, resulting in a cleaner landscape we can all enjoy, "said Agriculture Minister Ralph Eicher in a release.

The cleanup will happen Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., weather dependent. Safety is the number one priority for organizers so all participants will be wearing safety vests and areas being cleaned will have signs indicating it. Adults will be on hand to provide supervision.

"All motorist, cyclists, and ATV drivers are encouraged to use extra caution this weekend and be on the lookout for 4-H crews while they're working," encouraged Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler.

Participating 4-H clubs earn $6,745 last year from the Manitoba government for cleaning up 264 kilometres of roadsides and ditches, which resulted in 863 bags of trash.
