If you are heading to the United States by plane, be aware of the enhanced security measures that are in place starting today.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is beginning enhanced security measures for all guests coming into the United States.

Air Canada, WestJet and NewLeaf have all advised passengers to arrive at least two hours prior to departure.

The enhanced security includes a screening on electronic devices, according to CATSA. This includes removing the case and proving that the device can power up.

Before you travel, CATSA says you should:

  • Make sure electronic cases are easily removed, or remove ahead of time
  • Make sure devices are charged and can turn on (including phones and laptops)
  • Have your boarding pass ready
