A Manitoba family says that despite the death of their infant son, their faith has never been stronger.

The family of baby Brooks Bohn asked for prayer Saturday as doctors prepared to take their son off life support. This afternoon Brooks' father, Brad, updated a prayer group saying that Brooks had passed away.

"At 2:10PM MST today our little Brooks went to be with Jesus.

"As we were praying for a miracle we began to realize HE was the miracle. He fought it out for a month to strengthen the faith of his mommy and daddy and many many more surrounding him.

"Who knew a child laying in a hospital bed could have such an impact. We are changed people because of Brooks. Our faith has never been stronger and our marriage as well.

"We hope his story has worked and will continue to work in others lives as well. Will update with further service details etc as they become available. We love you all, thanks for walking beside us through this."

Please join us in continuing to pray for the family as they grieve.

A Manitoba family is asking people to join them in praying Saturday morning as their infant son fights for his life.

Christine and Brad Bohn of Steinbach welcomed twins, Brooks and Alice, on October 17. While Alice was a healthy weight, Brooks was just 4 lbs 12 oz. A GoFundMe set up for the family says that within 24 hours they noticed that Brooks was not doing well.

Doctors diagnosed brooks with Pulmonary Hypertension and he deteriorated rapidly. A medical team flew out from Edmonton on October 20 to hook Brooks up to an ECMO machine. It works as a heart and lung bypass, circulating blood through an artificial lung back into the bloodstream of a very ill baby, according to Wikipedia.

Brooks was then transferred to Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Brooks' condition has not improved over the weeks, however, and the tough decision to take him off life supports was made. "I’d start this update off with something like Brooks’ story will be coming to an end tomorrow but I know that’s not going to be the case. Brooks’ story will live on, and hopefully inspire many and give hope to those in their darkest times," Brad wrote in a prayer group for Brooks on Thursday. Tests showed Brooks' lungs were very abnormal and would not sustain him off life support. A lung transplant was also ruled out.

On Friday, November 15 the process began. However, Brooks' body did not react as expected.

"I’m not exactly sure what to say but it’s not what I thought I’d be saying tonight. To put it simply, there’s a lot of confused people on Brooks’ team," Brad wrote on Friday evening.

"We started the process of turning down his life support around 2:45 PM and his numbers really didn’t indicate he was going to give up the fight. The doctors are still convinced that he has severe lung disease and his outlook is very bad but can’t explain why he had his best wean test to date right before he was supposed to leave this earth. Of course, this puts Christine and I in an impossible spot again with deciding for Brooks, and how to move forward. God didn’t take our boy for a reason today. We hope it’s a miracle of course, but you can tell the doctors don’t want to get our hopes up and believe it’s something outside of medical explanation."

Brad says that surgeons will arrive on Saturday to turn the ECMO machine of completely. The family is praying for a complete miracle.

Pray from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST

The surgeons are set to arrive at 10 a.m. MST (11 a.m. in Manitoba). Brad and his family are asking people to pray with them at that time and through the following two hours.

"We certainly hope for the same results we had today but it’s going to be another round of not knowing our little guy will pull through. It’s a huge deal and we welcome God to do His handy work once again.

"We already turned him over completely to Jesus (Friday) and were met with a surprise so we continue to leave him in His hands for tomorrow. We love Brooks’ doctors and team but we really hope utter confusion continues tomorrow as they wonder what on earth is going on. We’ll be glad to tell them about the army standing behind Brooks. If that’s not on God’s plan for tomorrow we’re still ok with that too and will report back how we were expecting to this evening."
