Dry conditions have forced the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service to keep and extend the ban on burning.

The City of Winnipeg put a ban on issuing open-air burn permits on April 30 due to dry conditions inside the city. They also banned fires in fire pits on public and private property if the wind is above 25 km/h.

Wednesday, the City extended the ban to all fires in approved outdoor receptacles. The extremely dry conditions have increased the risk of dangerous fires, such as grass, brush, and wildfires.

The brush fires outside Winnipeg have resulted in the loss of multiple homes.
