A Wednesday-evening fire is being investigated after one person at the scene required emergency care.

At 7:19 p.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in the Brooklands neighbourhood. When arriving at the single-story house, the crew saw smoke coming out of the house.

All of the home's occupants self-evacuated before crews arrived.

Launching into an offensive attack, the fire was under control at 7:43 p.m.

The WFPS says one person at the scene was assessed by paramedics at the scene. This person required care and was taken to the hospital. They are in unstable condition.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
