Winnipeg and much of southern Manitoba are in for a treat today.

Brian Van Wilgenburg from Environment Canada says that a southerly flow that moved through Saskatchewan yesterday bringing temperatures in the 20-degree range will reach Manitoba today with the same warm temperatures.

It will also be very windy. Wind speeds will be around 40 km/h with gusts up to 60 this afternoon. But that's a good thing.

"That's why it's going to be so warm," Van Wilgenburg says.

The forecasted high is 24° today.

Normal highs for this time of year is 13°. The record high was set in 1977 with a high of 26.8°.

Temperatures are expected to return to normal for tomorrow and Friday.
