Less than a month after resigning from her position as MLA for Tuxedo, former Manitoba premier Heather Stefanson has been appointed to the WestJet Board of Directors.

The WestJet Group made the announcement Tuesday, saying they are thrilled to welcome Heather to the board at a critical time.

“Heather’s extensive experience in government and regulatory affairs will help to strengthen the WestJet Group’s relationships with communities across the country as we pursue ambitious growth in service of all Canadians," said Chairman of the WestJet Group’s Board of Directors, Chris Burley in a press release.

Stefanson says she looks forward to joining her fellow board members in helping steward WestJet's new strategy forward.

“It is an honour to join the WestJet Group Board at this time of growth and opportunity for Canadian aviation,” said Stefanson.

Stefanson was first elected to Cabinet in Manitoba in 2016. She held several positions before becoming the leader of the PC Party and Manitoba's 24th Premier in 2021.

Stefanson officially resigned as MLA of Tuxedo on May 6, 2024.
