The province is hoping to see Manitobans take advantage of their parks' free admission.

Starting Tuesday, all provincial parks, such as Turtle Mountain, Spruce Woods, and Beaudry, will not require a vehicle provincial pass for the entire month.

“People across our province love Manitoba’s parks and our government is pleased to make it easier to explore them and to experience all that they offer," Environment, Climate and Parks Minister Jeff Wharton says in a Monday statement.

Snowmobilers will still need their Snopasses. National parks, such as Riding Mountain National Park, require vehicle passes.

“Free park entry gives everyone more opportunities to enjoy nature and the great outdoors," the minister says, noting trails have a good snow base this year.

Wharton is encouraging Manitobans to try cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, fat biking, snowshoeing and hiking. He says some parks have outdoor skating areas, hockey rinks and toboggan hills.

Warming shelters require masks and have capacity signs.
