The Freedom International School is changing lives in Winnipeg!

This new high school in Winnipeg is focused on supporting newcomer and refugee children and families.

Rachel Smith, a board member at the school said, "100% of our students right now are refugees from war-torn countries."

The school is focused heavily on the arts to promote a sense of comfort through their familiar artistic expressional as well as the Canadian way of creative self-expression.

The students bring in this rich creative spirit form countries like Seria, Burundi, Congo, and Eritrea.

One incredible story Smith shared is that of a mother that was reading at a grade two level when her children started attending.

After support form, the staff and principal this mother was reading every day and is now able to read at a grade eight level. This has a real impact on enriching her children's education as she can now reading to them and set an example.

This school is changing lives every day and if you want to be a part of this change there are a few things you can do.
