Friday fire under investigation

The cause of a blaze in a three-storey multi-family residence in the Spence neighbourhood remains under investigation.

Reports of a fire in the home, located in the 500 block of Balmoral Street between Ellice Ave and Sargent Ave, were received by Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Crews say there was smoke in the building when they arrived. Using an offensive attack, the fire was declared under control just before 6:30 p.m.

Those living in the building safely self-evacuated and were able to return to their suites after firefighters completed their work.

No injuries were reported.
