Winnipeg Harvest's new executive director talks about the new job and what she is excited about.

Keren Taylor-Huges was named the executive director of Winnipeg Harvest on Monday, January 2, taking over for outgoing director David Northcott. She says this is a dream job.

"I've always had a passion to help serve," Taylor-Huges said. "[This job] seemed like the perfect opportunity to leverage my passion with my business experience."

The new director plans to spend the first few months on the front lines, learning about every aspect of the organization, from food sorting to moving food from place to place. Taylor-Huges also knows that she has a great group around her to support her transition.

"Hunger is not going away, nor is poverty," Taylor-Huges said. "I think there are things we can do to lessen the impact of that."

Three days in, Taylor-Huges isn't sure what the future looks like for Harvest, but she is ready for the journey she is about to take.
