Fires in multiple parts of Canada are having an effect on prairie skies today.

"You have forest fire smoke that's hanging around," John Paul Cragg, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada. "[This is because] of forest fires in the north and in BC."

For the rest of Tuesday, Cragg expects the haze to stick around, making it hard to distinguish whether you're looking at clouds or at haze in the sky.

"The smoke is expected to last until tomorrow," Cragg said, mentioning an incoming cold front could move it out. "But [we] could see a return to smoke over the next couple days.

"It might be a short reprieve."

The good news is that the air quality should not be affected. Environment Canada is labeling it as a low risk.

"It's just going to be a little bit smokey," Cragg said. "It shouldn't cause any respiratory problems."
