No injuries are being reported after a Centennial-neighbourhood home caught fire for the second time in just over one month's time.

Early Tuesday morning, on-duty police officers in the 400 block of Elgin Avenue noticed a home catching fire, notifying emergency crews of the situation.

At one a.m, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews arrived at the home. Once arriving, crews discovered heavy smoke and flames seeping out of the two-and-a-half story home.

Fire crews then discovered that the home's previous damage would make the fire difficult to fight.

The WFPS says that the home was familiar to them, as on July 11 at 8:55 p.m, they initially encountered the home. On that Saturday evening, crews were called, discovering a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames. The serious fire sent one person to the hospital that evening, and all of the home's occupants evacuated the home.

At that time, WFPS says the home had significant damage from smoke, flames, and water. They add that neighbouring homes required fire protection at the time.

Due to the extensive damage from the previous fire, fire crews on Tuesday morning said the home was structurally unsound. This required the crews to remain outside of the home to launch a defensive attack.

A neighbouring home was evacuated. That home's siding was damaged from the heat.

At 2:27 a.m. the house fire was under control. No injuries are being reported.

Investigators say that the home is a total loss.
